Yoga for everyone. And especially kiters.

Deepen your practice, or perhaps find a new passion

Most mornings we gather under the trees for a beautiful yoga practice, tailored for you. On windy days we slow down and stretch, and on no wind days we provide the work-out you're missing.

A morning class in the garden

At Khaya we're lucky to have a beautiful, leafy garden, to start our days with outdoor yoga.

About five times a week we roll out the mats together for a 45-minute class, usually in the calm of the morning before the wind fills in. Some days a flowing vinyasa to wake the body up, some days a slow yin to release sore muscles.

It's relaxed and unpretentious. Whether you've practised for years or have never set foot on a mat, you'll have fun with us and leave feeling better.

Out in the garden

We practise outside under the trees, in a green corner of the house.

Multi-style

A variety through the week, depending on the teacher's expertise and your wishes.

Every level welcome

Never done yoga? Perfect. Classes are pitched so a first-timer and a seasoned yogi share the same space.

Mats & blocks provided

Turn up in comfy clothes and we'll sort the rest. Nothing to buy, nothing to carry.

Made for kiters

Mobilise before a session, unwind the shoulders and hips after. Yoga and kiting go hand in hand.

Donation based

Give what feels right for you. It keeps the practice open to everybody, whatever your budget.

A few things people ask.

Do I need any yoga experience to join?

Not at all. Classes are accessible to every level, from your very first session to years on the mat. We provide mats and blocks, so you can just turn up in comfortable clothes and follow along.

How often are classes and when?

About five mornings a week in high season, usually a 45-minute class from 9 to 9.45am, though we're always open to requests. Weather permitting we practise on the grass in the garden, and each day's class and time goes up in the house WhatsApp group, so just show up a few minutes early.

What styles of yoga do you teach?

A mix of vinyasa, hatha and yin across the week. Classes are often geared towards preparing for or recovering from kiting, and we're always open to requests and wishes.

How much does it cost?

Classes are donation-based. Give what feels right for you. Everybody is welcome, whatever your budget.

Can I join if I'm not staying at Khaya?

Our classes are mainly for guests staying at Khaya and our sister house, Mayana. If you're not staying with us you're still welcome to join on request: message us and you can take a class for R150.

Do I need to bring my own mat?

No. We provide mats and blocks. Just bring water and something comfortable to move in. Mornings can be cool, so a warm layer for the final rest is nice.

Is yoga good for kitesurfing?

Very. A little mobility and breathwork before a session helps you ride longer and safer, and gentle yin afterwards opens up the shoulders, hips and back that a big day on the water tightens up. Many of our classes are built around exactly that.
